Why Memory Foam?

What is Memory Foam?

Think about it as a foam that can form itself to fit your body contours. In doing so, it can provide relief of stressful pressure points as you try to get a restful night sleep. Think about lying on a board for several minutes. The few places that make contact with the wood begins to soon feel the stress if supporting the entire body. Your spine begins to feel rigid as it cannot get back into its natural position. Comfortable? No way. Now imagine yourself lying in a hammock. It feels great for awhile. Again after time your spine aches to be in a more supportive position. Uncomfortable again. Now imagine lying on something right out of a space film. As you lie down, it gives way to let you sink in just enough that your entire back is supported by the material. This keeps your spine in its natural position. Very comfortable and relaxing.

In a matter of speaking, memory foam is somewhat a material from space. NASA engineers developed memory foam to help support our astronauts during the extremes of space travel. Today many companies have their own versions of memory foam. Some companies may decide to cut corners and manufacture a cheaper quality material than others to make a more competitive product. Of course the concept of their foam may be the same. Only top of the line, quality foam could provide the best support for your body.

How does memory foam work? Memory foam is made up of tiny cell like structures that are temperature sensitive. One trait of this foam is the ability to become softer with temperature. As the foam warms up from your body it becomes softer causing it to be able to expand or rise up to meet the areas of your body that do not usually benefit from support, such as your neck. Imagine the feeling of fully being supported as you sleep. In the morning the memory foam will return to its original position, unaffected by your restful night sleep. It "remembers" its original shape.

The density of the foam also plays a role in your nights sleep. Imagine a mattress that is built with you in mind. Dense foam toward the bottom for full support. Less dense foam on top to rise up and provide support to the higher curves of your body as you sleep.
