This is a site run by a professional association and online community, and have been around over ten years. They offer support, networking, advertising, information, a newsletter and much more to help any would-be work at home mom (or dad!) figure out what it is she wants to do, and where to get started.

Support is a big factor for anyone who wishes to work from home. Unfortunately, you may not get the support you need from family and friends, many of whom may thing you're crazy leaving a "safe" office environment for the challenge of starting a home based career. The fact is, many people do fall flat on their faces when they attempt to start working from home, but it's often because they've been given the wrong information somewhere down the track, or they've read so many things, they suffer from "analysis paralysis" and can't figure out where to begin.

That's an excellent reason why you should do some research online before you even think of going it alone. You'll find plenty of online support in the many communities out there dedicated to people who work from home (just like the two I've mentioned already). However, there are also many, many more online resources for anyone working from home, and cover all sorts of online jobs and business opportunities. The more you learn before you start, the better off you'll be, provided you make a decision about what it is you want to do and stick to it. It's no good having a zillion ideas and trying to run with all of them! You'll also need to be prepared to work hard for little reward, at least until you've become established. Another reason people fail when going it alone, is that they have unrealistic expectations and give up when they don't meet them. Be prepared to keep plugging away relentlessly for a few months, and you'll start to see some success.
